Iran And Its Neighbors Conference
Global Political Trends Center (GPoT) of Istanbul Kultur University and the Middle East Programme of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars organized a conference on Iran and Its Neighbors on 15-17 July at Istanbul.
The meeting brought together 13 seasoned experts from Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan as well as the United States and Europe to better comprehend the current dynamics of Iran’s role on the region alongside the responses of major regional states at a time of considerable turbulence.
At the backdrop of the two-day conference was how the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the nuclear agreement signed by Iran and the EU 3 + 3 last July affects regional stability. The meeting also touched on the potency of a “New Cold War in the Middle East”, “Iranian perceptions of the region” alongside “Turkish Views on Iran” and regional tensions, recent developments in Syria, Afghanistan and Egypt were also given keen consideration as they all affect the region to a much appreciable extent.
