Turkish and Israeli observers of relations between the two countries have said, after about four years of tense ties, that both sides need to concentrate and cooperate on regional issues without delay amid news that Turkey and Israel are likely to sign an agreement on the 2010 flotilla raid soon.
“Regional developments make Turkish-Israeli rapprochement inevitable,”
said Mensur Akgün, answering questions after a roundtable discussion on
May 8 titled “Current State of Affairs of Turkey-Israel Relations from
the Regional Perspective,” which is part of a policy dialogue between
the Global Political Trends Center (GPoT) and the Israeli Institute of
Regional Foreign Policies (MITVIM).---
