Turkish-Israeli Relations and the Paradigm Shift in the Middle East
GPoT Center, in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung’s Istanbul office and the Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policies (MITVIM), organized an interactive policy discussion entitled “Turkish-Israeli relations and the Paradigm Shift in the Middle East” with the participation of leading Israeli and Turkish experts on September 13th, 2012.
In the first session of the meeting, Nimrod Goren, Chair of MITVIM, and Ghaida Zoabi, Director of INJAZ, made presentations on how the Arab Spring is seen in Israel, the common interests for Turkey and Israel in the changing region, the growing Israeli interest in mending ties with Turkey and the results of the recent poll conducted by MITVIM on Turkish-Israeli relations. During the second session, Alon Liel and Arik Segal focused on Israel’s policies regarding the recent turmoil in Syria, and the future of Turkish-Israeli relations in light of recent developments in the region.
